This pandemic has truly hit the world harder than we could have ever imagined. The Kansas team started planning back in July 2018 when the initial vote was taken to host Central States 2020 annual seminar. Unfortunately, 2020 didn’t work out for us. Little did we know when moving it to September 2021 that we would still be working with restrictions. The Kansas group sent out a survey a few weeks back, to get a feel for what turnout would look like. We sadly only had about 13 people who said they felt they would be able to go. Companies still have restrictions on travel which was limiting us and the county the hotel is in is still under a great amount of restrictions, further behind than most other areas. When spending 3 years planning a meeting you want it to be successful, we did not feel that it would be in the best financial interest for Central States to proceed with the meeting. Thanks to the great relationship that was created with the hotel, we were able to cancel without any financial hardship to the association. We will not be planning to reschedule this time. We will be moving forward and are working with NSIPA for a joint meeting, more information to come on that
I have no doubt that we would have had a wonderful meeting in Kansas City at the Great Wolf Lodge. The team worked hard in finding an amazing family friendly location, getting together a great agenda, and even getting vendors interested in sponsoring and/or having a booth. I want to thank them for all the work they put into this process.
